about

I've had a comment copied to my computer desktop for months and it finally became this song. My friend posted, "Someone asked me yesterday why I was smiling. I didn't have a ready answer." I thought that sounded like a song. It's for several people I've talked to who have come to a place in life where they see beauty in it all.

I spent time today with three guys with whom I have made music for much of my life. We've shared some of the sweetest moments I've ever had. Our music making made us smile again, just like it always has. I'm counting those moments more preciously and I have to remember - it's a beautiful life for me.

Someone asked me today why I was smiling
I had no ready reply
I guess that means that something's changed
Something's different in my life

Cause I've had my share of, Taking wrong turns
Picking myself off the ground
Doing my damage, Making my getaway
Trouble always to be found

CHORUS:
I remember my darkest days
I remember my wandering ways
I came awake and I'll tell you what I find
It's a beautiful life for me
It was there all the time

I like to walk the road down by the river now
On an early Sunday morning
I feel the joy in me, the songs that sing in me
How can I keep from singing

I have an apple tree, I named it Jesus Christ
And a garden of my own
A place for planting, a place for sun and rain
To watch the good things that I've grown

I live on this piece of prairie. I'm passionate and dedicated to writing songs in hopes of singing them for people. I don't think I could continue without both ends of that process. Create then hope. It's here I write songs, and here I wait to sing them for others. ... more
