She has a gift for you  She'll take a while for you A celebration smile for you She has a laugh for you  She'll raise a glass to you She is a gift to you
She knows a prayer for you Someone who cares for you Just a little kick in the caboose It's what she's got, something hot Going to hit the spot She is a gift to you
She knows where the memories survive She keeps 'em in her soul She knows it's a gift to be alive So let the good times roll. roll, roll There will be no escape She'll squeeze you like a grape Her hugs are tried and true Everyday's a holiday to celebrate That's her way She is a gift to you
Snow White in her disguise She knows where the magic lies Wish I's in her kindergarten too Nana camp is coming soon Hot cocoa afternoon She is a gift to to you
When the fire is getting dim She's good medicine She'll fan the flames for you Memories, they come and go But these are those days, you know She is a gift to you She Is a Gift to You - December 11, 2021 - for Patty Buechler

We can stand on any mountain top Or walk along a silver stream Behold a peaceful valley And still not know what it means We learn from each other, from someone like you Where the heart is We're Learning where the heart is You show us how, Dave and Ruth Forty summers gone now Maybe a thousand days You've given from your servant hearts For your love of this place The circle is unbroken And never been more true It's where the heart is You found where the heart is You show us now, Dave and Ruth To this place, you bring your love More clearly than the stars More than any rainbow does In every grandpa and grandma hug You show us how to live So we stand here on the mountain side And walk along the silver stream Behold a peaceful valley And try to fathom what it means Trying to live out this love, the way you do Where the heart is Learning where the heart is You show us where the heart is Dave and Ruth

She won't miss The paperwork Or learning some new software She won't miss Searching for the right words To ease some parents nightmare She won't miss The winter mornings Parking out in egypt again She won't miss evals In sketchy locales Or trying to catch a busy mom at 7:00 a.m. But what she will miss is the little things Learning something new About herself, especially about you The stories and the laughter bring a tear or two When she feels close to someone She will miss the little things that matter Each and every one She won't miss The miles and miles On roads that seem to never end Or the wishing There was more she could do In a world where she's doing all she can She won't miss The sad apartments With no yard and no place to run Or hauling toys Through the hurry and the noise Trying to bring a hopeful word to someone

There's a bird that sings And it flies so high Outside the window where you lay And the song it sings Is a lullaby A Christmas song for you And the angels around you flew And in your heart… you were singing too Under a summer sky Is a butterfly And dandelions where you play And your brother rides His shiny new bike Under that sky so blue He's laughing, so are you And in your heart… you're pedaling too Now the world has many Gifts to share A Christmas tree for me and you And there's a gift for everyone there Olivia, it's true The bird and the butterfly and the sky so blue And in your heart…there's love for you

Nickel Shy 03:45
I’m the kind of guy Who lets life slide by Let time fly so easily Don’t know why No matter how I try That’s just me I’m the kind of guy Who’s just a nickel shy Of being who I dreamed I’d be Don’t know why No matter how I try That’s just me I have the kind of dreams That put you on the cover of magazines Send the world clamoring to your door But when I made up my mind To let my dreams shine Turns out the world finds them easy to ignore I’m the kind of guy Who can’t deny A preference for the minor key Don’t know why No matter how I try That’s just me I have dreams, you know Write a song for a broadway show Or a song that makes the whole world sing But when I make up my mind To let my songs shine I guess they weren’t made for that kind of thing I’m the kind of guy Who has no reply When you ask what the plan might be So I’ll just be Not quite your cup of tea That’s just me

about

James Hersch Minneapolis, Minnesota

I live on this piece of prairie. I'm passionate and dedicated to writing songs in hopes of singing them for people. I don't think I could continue without both ends of that process. Create then hope. It's here I write songs, and here I wait to sing them for others. ... more
