Day After Christmas Day

Number Fifty Two, December 27th, 2012
Day After Christmas Day
Ten year old boy
Floating his new toy
On the pond at the park
Let the good times start
Pigeon is squawking
Like I better have something
To throw his way
He's out of luck today
And the Arizona sky is blue
Sun shining down on me and you
On the day after Christmas
The day after Christmas... and it's all right
There's no stopping
Gonna be a whole lot of shopping
Going on over there
At fashion square
But there's kids on the playground
You know you can't beat that sound
On a desert day
Chase the afternoon away
I sat down on this park bench
With the world on my shoulders
Another year to tell me
That I'm getting older
But something came and took my blues away
On this beautiful day after Christmas Day
So let the good things soak in
We can fix what's broken
Blessings in the air
It's the joy we share
That ten year old boy
Spilled a little of his joy
On me today
A gift that made me say

Number Forty Six, November 15th, 2012
The wind is heavy
Out on I 80
The moon is shrouded in the sky
I'm driving a full load
Out to Colorado
Over the big Muddy I fly
I have my reasons
I have my notions
Put me on this road again
Kind of like to slow down
Take a road through a little town
Just let my compass spin
But I don't have time to
Stop and look around
Prisoner to this concrete
Tunnel that I'm on
Chorus
Tell me why
Is Nebraska
Only a highway
To me
Fuel up in Lincoln
Rain's got me thinking
Of pulling over for the night
But I'm paid to make time
And I'll be fine
Dodging those scales all right
Just one step ahead of the coming freeze
With a cup of coffee to hold between my knees
I am believing
This road I'm speeding
Is taking me where I belong
But it's the things I don't know
Things you won't find on this road
Making me wonder if I'm wrong
Way out there I see the little town lights
Part of me is saying I wonder what it's like

Scattered Pieces
04:22
|
|||
Number Fourteen, April 5th, 2012
Scattered Pieces
I see you're cornered and you're surrounded
You feel the world closing in
But I am open, I am spaces
I am someplace you've never been
And my edges are different from the others that you see
I have a place for you, no longer we will be
Scattered pieces of a puzzle
Shapes that have no place somehow
Seem to never fit together
Scattered pieces… that fit together now
Your strange lines and your angles
They feel like home to me
They are treasures, they're like diamonds
Locked away secretly
And if my life has shaped me right
If I am your key
We'll unlock each other, no longer we will be
Scattered pieces of a puzzle
Shapes that have no place somehow
Seem to never fit together
Scattered pieces… that make us better
Scattered pieces… complete together
Scattered pieces… we fit together now

Number Twenty Five, June 21st, 2012 - for Jamie and Matt
Heaven and the Whole Wide World
You come from the ocean, you come from the prairie
Your dream is in motion, one day you'll marry
You're turning this over to the hand of the Maker
And finding the music is sweeter than ever
High on the mountain and over the trees
Miles and miles of walking where you please
It's a prayer on the prairie, it's a song on the sea
Love is coming, over running
When heaven and the whole wide world agree
Now stand in the twilight and feel the world rocking
Fix on forever and life you'll be walking
By mountain or sea, or what's yet to be
Just you and your sweet, sweet song
High on the mountain and over the trees
Miles and miles of walking where you please
It's a prayer on the prairie, it's a song on the sea
Love is coming, over running
Because heaven and the whole wide world agree

37 Days
04:02
|
|||
Number Six, February 9th, 2012
37 Days
37 days and counting
That's what I do
Count the days since I lost you
I don't think I even noticed
When spring crept into the air
But that's how it is when you don't care
I just look out the windows of my eyes
Too afraid to step outside
Too afraid to get back on the line
And I've grown comfortable
With a world that's numb
I don't feel my breath go out
Or the morning come
37 days and counting
Hands of the clock go around
Sun's up, sun's down
And I have no regard for beauty
Cause the ugly won't let me be
The nothing makes sense to me
37 days since I remember
Where my map was leading to
Now a chilly wind just blew
It away…

House of Cards
03:55
|
|||
Number Twenty Three, June 7th, 2012
House of Cards
I want to feel my hand on the wheel
And believe that I'm in complete control
On an ocean that was made for me
Making up my lies as I go
I've learned how to believe the lie
The rules don't apply
To me
I want to feel my hand on the wheel
To believe that I'm in complete control
Any moves I want, I can make
Use you up and I come back for more
Fill me up and I'm gone for sure
And everything I want
I should have
And everything I have
I throw away
You'd be wrong if
You think me sad
I'm born to be this way
I know I'm born to die this way
I hide, don't want you to see
Terrified behind a smile
If I untie the blindfold I see
This house of cards comes down
In a pile

No Ready Reply

|
|||
Number Nineteen, May 10th, 2012
No Ready Reply
Someone asked me today why I was smiling
I had no ready reply
I guess that means that something's changed
Something's different in my life
Cause I've had my share of, Taking wrong turns
Picking myself off the ground
Doing my damage, Making my getaway
Trouble always to be found
CHORUS:
I remember my darkest days
I remember my wandering ways
I came awake and I'll tell you what I find
It's a beautiful life for me
It was there all the time
I like to walk the road down by the river now
On an early Sunday morning
I feel the joy in me, the songs that sing in me
How can I keep from singing
I have an apple tree, I named it Jesus Christ
And a garden of my own
A place for planting, a place for sun and rain
To watch the good things that I've grown

Number Forty, October 4th, 2012
St Vincent
See your crooked smile
Your body's broken
I have an old guitar
And a song I'm hoping
Can find a way, find a way
find a way to you
Standing over you
In these tubes and tangles
My strings can sing
Sweet jingle jangle
Trying to find a way, find a way
find a way to you
No tears in your mothers eyes
And sister's strong at your side
Grandmas words are calling you home
You're not alone
Keep your eye on me
One moment longer
Cause that is all we have
We need each other, and I'll
Find a way, find a way
Find a way to you

Goodbye Family Dog
04:28
|
|||
Number Thirteen, March 29th, 2012
Goodbye Family Dog
Goodbye family dog
Goodbye family friend
Goodbye faithful one
True companion
We miss you family dog
Dog of 14 years
So many days for laughing
But this is one for tears
You never cared for tricks
You never cared to fetch
You never learned a squirrel was
Something you were never going to catch
You're joy never failed
When we walked in the door
We loved you…
You loved us more
You learned the boundaries
You learned the mailman too
You figured out there would be a biscuit
In his free hand for you
And every afternoon a nap
Where the sun would hit the floor
We loved you…
You loved us more
This house has gone so still
In the spring time of the year
I keep seeing you in the corner of my eye
Forgetting you're not here
You filled the empty spot
We didn't even know was there
I imagine you're in a
Sunny spot somewhere
So goodbye family dog…

Space
03:19
|
|||
Number Seven, February 16th, 2012
Space
I don't know what
Tomorrow holds, I don't
Know how stories go from here
But I dropped down to the
Deepest part of my
Heart and I came back
With one thing clear
Now the space fear used to fill
Is full of you
And the faith fear used to kill
Is alive in you
I had rooms for love
Years and years it was
All I could do
To give my share
But life can change you
Break and drain you
Leave you full of empty air
Now the space fear used to fill
Is full of you
And the faith fear used to kill
Is alive in you
I was full of my empty
Too much of nothing
Wasted and wandering alone
What is the sweetness
You brought to my tears
Like honey from the stone
Now the space fear used to fill
Is full of you
And the faith fear used to kill
Is alive in you

Jesse's Song
02:56
|
|||
Number Twenty Seven, July 5th, 2012
Jesse's Song
I found myself
When I found you
Like a brand new color in the sky
That I never knew
Now you're in
Everything I do
And the sky was never so blue
The light on the rocks was never so true
Til I found you
I've tried to see the world
Through child-like eyes
Let life come up on me
Like a new sunrise
Now you fill my days
And every sunset's new
The sky was never so blue
The light on the rocks was never so true
Til I found you
The things I've loved
I love even more
The things I've lost
I don't miss much anymore
Hear the water sing
And how my heart does too
Cause I have a ring for you
And a dream that I pray will come true
Cause I found you

Number Twenty Eight, July 12th, 2012
Luke
Luke dances to the sound of guitars
Face in the sky and free in the sound
Under the aspen the sun finds his face
And the harmony holds him, moves him 'round
As the music plays
Sometimes I feel out of key myself
Voices and noises are harsh to me
Rhythms and rhymes seem to hide away
And I trip on the trying of all I can't be
Still that music plays
So Luke, I will listen and I will move
To the vibrations of the world I find
You're what I see when I close my eyes
With the sun on your face as you're moving in time
Where the music plays

Sunsets
Sunsets…
Bring color to the fading day
Sunsets…
Can slow me down long enough to say
Love, there's time for love
The old folks…
I see the sunset in their smile
They show me
I begin to know in just a little while
How it feels to love, really love
But for you and I
The sun is high
And our dreams are up in the
Cloudless sky
What pulls us to love
Isn't in that sky above
It's in the moment, it's in the here, it's in the now
Sunsets…
Reminding us that we're alive
Sunsets…
Flicker of a flame that always dies
But love… never does
Our love never does

Terminal One, Gate 3
04:32
|
|||
He sits down with an old guitar
In a beat up mismatched case
A few days of beard and a smile wrapped around his face
Now I'm no conversationalist
But this is more than I can resist
Waiting here for the boarding call
All it takes is a word of curiosity
And he's popping that case for me to see
Stuffed in tee shirts and rolled up socks
The blond wood checked and the finish worn off
His 60 year old guitar smiles at me
Here at LAX
Refuge from the metroplex
We've got more than guitar stories to share
Through the night and the L.A. air
He's off to Las Vegas
For a six night hotel run
But I can hear in his voice it's not so fun
So we talk about his old Kay guitar
How he writes his songs in his girlfriend's car
I'm laughing, and he's laughing
He saved it from an early death in Baltimore
Found an orphan case in a Venice guitar store
Me a few years shy his age
We might've shared an open stage
Or a writer's night, a sidewalk space
Here at LAX
Gateway to the glitter-plex
We've got more than guitar stories to share
Before we take to the L.A. air
I'm fine living far away from this crazy race
Occurs to me I'm an old guitar in a mismatched case
With years worn and true to me
And tucked inside what's meant to be
Here at LAX
Off to whatever's next
We've got more than guitar stories to share
And we're off through the L.A. air

Hands to Fold
03:44
|
|||
Hands in the morning
At the break of day
Hands that say more than words can say
Hands that are graceful
In their offering
Hands powerful in what they bring
Hands for the valley
Of the shadow of death
Hands for the bread in the wilderness
Hands for the highest peak
The joyful climb
Hands for jubilation in our time
Hands may you offer
Hands may you hold
Hands to the heavens
And hands to fold
Hands that are restless
Wondering what they're supposed to do
Hands searching for what's true
Hands stretching over
The blue highway
Hands will find a home someday
Hands for the shoulders
Trembling in the dark
Hands that grip and leave a mark
Hands for the cemetery
winds that blow
Hands to wave goodbye as we go
Hands may you offer
Hands may you hold
Hands to the heavens
And hands to fold

First Times
04:29
|
|||
I learned my first chord in the front yard
They showed me where my fingers go
Learned to play my first song in my room
Listening hard to the radio
I wrote my first words to my first song
When a girl took my breath away
And I found I could say for the first time
Just what I wanted to say
I took a road trip for the first time
All the way to Nashville, Tennessee
Sliding right through a Wisconsin snow storm
My Dad's car, my guitar and me
I sang my songs for the first time
In an office on 16th avenue
Billy Bob smiled, said he liked my style
Nothing he heard that he could use
Something about the first time, never be the same
The world spins different when what you love... calls your name
Then I sang to my daughter for the first time
That afternoon she was born
And I showed my boy my old guitar
How to play an E minor chord
And I felt that magic like the first time
Same as it happened way back when
That's when I knew that dreams come true
And music has me dreaming again
I'm missing those first times, but that's OK
Life will bring those first times… back again someday

Trust Enough
03:39
|
|||
Down comes the lie of a perfect life
Down the mirage of the mighty man
Down the illusion of never losing
No one really gets to live like that
We want to believe in the perfect life
We want to buy it anywhere we can
We want to trust what's going to turn to dust
But know one knows, no one can
But oh…
We can trust enough to build it back up
And oh…
We can trust enough to help each other up
Again
Such a time of so many voices
Such a time of so many claims
And promises made no one could keep
Drowning in the noise of who's to blame
But that's not what's in our hearts
I don't think that's what we hunger for
We have the tools in our hands right now
To build something - not perfection
To build something - not an illusion
To build something that's worth so much more

A Good Man
03:54
|
|||
Number Eleven, March 15th, 2012
A Good Man
He wants a pure heart
Sometimes he stumbles in the dark
He wants to be free
But most of all he wants to be
A good man
He wants a new start
To fix the pieces that came apart
He wants to be free
But most of all he wants to be
A good man
He knows he still has a chance to rise up
Live out what's good in him
He's faithful to a plan
More than he can understand
The man he wants to be again
The stars shine over the prison yard
He walks back to the block with the prison guard
Tonight he might dream of being free
More than that he just wants to be
A good man

Ida Mae
04:54
|
|||
Number Twelve, March 22nd, 2012
Ida Mae
Ida Mae worked the day shift
At the old cafe in town
She loved to walk the streets
You never saw her sitting down
She didn't go to the dance hall
Or the tavern on the square
But when the moon was bright on the riverbank
You could see her walking there
They say she fell in love
When she was just a girl
With a handsome man who promised
To take her around the world
But he never came back
Some say he died in the war
Ida Mae put away her dreams once more
CHORUS:
Oh Ida Mae
Your love will come someday
Steal you away
From this old cafe
Oh Ida Mae
Your love will come someday
Take you away
Ida Mae
So she took the waitress job
At the Rentameyer Cafe
She was the prettiest woman in town
You could hear the diners say
By and by she buried her Mother at the lutheran church
But she never buried her dream of seeing the world
In the window of the cafe
After the lunch tables were clean
You could see her reading her books
And her travel magazines
Many men asked her out
She said yes to a few
But it was her dreams
She was married to
CHORUS
The snow will come and go
And the sky will turn to blue
The seasons change us all
And Ida Mae too
She didn't say goodbye
Just packed her bags alone
On the morning bus
With the little that she owned
Some say she went to the city
To live somewhere uptown
Some say she sailed the ocean
To see the European crowns
But I like to believe
She found her love at last
Not some handsome stranger
But the woman she came to know
Not some mystery man
But the woman inside who had the strength to go
CHORUS

Wide Open Door
05:17
|
|||
Number Fifteen, April 12th, 2012
Wide Open Door
Things we know, things we call fact
Things every eye can see
We take for truth, take for granted
Take ourselves so seriously
There's a big old world of other things
Deep inside the mystery
If I'm honest I don't really know
Best I can say is I believe
Sadie Ann, you're gone through a wide open door
I believe... that's what we're all heading for
We're moving along
When breath begins, when the first one is drawn
Born to this cold bright world
We're going to cry, we're going to complain
We want to go back to where we were
And at the other end when it's time to fly
We let that last breath go
I don't want to hear facts, I don't want to hear the truth
I want to let what I believe take me home
Sadie Ann, you're gone through a wide open door
I believe... that's what we're all heading for
We're moving along
We don't have to agree
On each thing we believe
It's enough for me
Give me faith in the last breath I breathe
Sadie Ann, you're gone through a wide open door
I believe... that's what we're all heading for
We're moving along

Big Knife
02:52
|
|||
Number Sixteen, April 19th, 2012
Big Knife
Big Knife stands alone
On a street so far from my home
No bus fare has he
No warm place to sleep
No secrets he will keep
From the cold April wind
Big Knife has seen it all
Riding freight from Billings to St Paul
He's learned to stay alive
But his native blood has died
He'll have to find a place to hide tonight
From the cold April wind
There's a big sky
High over where we stand tonight
There's a big lie
That promises Big Knife
A home is waiting for him
So Big Knife, sing with me
Freddy Fender and Buffy Saint Marie
Then you're off to a place unsaid
And I'm off to a hotel bed
In the cold April wind
Big Knife may you dream tonight
Of your soul, free and lost in flight

Number Seventeen, April 26th, 2012
Eight O'Clock
Eight o'clock
Can't come quick enough for you
As you watch the door
Check the mirror once more
Love has never been easy
Love has been so rare
Now it's blooming and blowing
Laughing and flowing
Everywhere
Every inch
You paid with innocence and tears
But you never hid your heart
You never sold your spark
Love has never been easy
Love has been so rare
Now it's blooming and blowing
Laughing and flowing
Everywhere
Now you found the smile that returns every treasure
Now you've found the voice that fills up your song
Now you've found the now in a world full of never
And it's real, and it's where you belong
Now it's eight o'clock
You're in the arms that wrap you up so close
There's nothing else but this
You find yourself in this
Love has never been easy
Love has been so rare
Now it's blooming and blowing
Laughing and flowing
And it's hiding and showing you
Love's everywhere

Number Twenty One, May 24th, 2012
The Living Water
The water, oh the living water
The water that gives us life
How I thirst
How I seek and search
For the water of Christ
See the aspen tree
So high and strong
Making music in the breeze
Stands against the fire
Stands against the wind
I want to be like one of these
Because the root is deep
The root is long
Just long enough to find…
The water, oh the living water
The water that gives us life
How I thirst
How I seek and search
For the water of Christ
There was a woman
Came to the well
With her bucket to draw
She filled her bucket
She filled her soul
With the love she saw
And her well is deep
Her well is pure
Never will run dry…
The water, oh the living water
The water that gives us life
How I thirst
How I seek and search
For the water of Christ

Drought of 2012
03:14

Number Twenty Nine, July 19th, 2012
Drought of 2012
Heat is on the mountain
And the valley below
Cracked and dry the riverbed
Where the water used to flow
Corn stalks empty
Not an ear to be found
Angry sun rips every drop
Of water from the ground
Fortunes lay in ruin
Still in their shell
In the drought of 2012
Cottonwoods are dying
Grass has turned to straw
The kill line is rising
Only snakes hide in the draw
Fire in the pasture
And out in the grain
The farmer fears for any spark
Prays for the rain
Fortunes lay in ruin
See right where they fell
In the drought of 2012
Shacks and barns and cabins
Built so long ago
Ghosts of broken dreams
Where the tumbleweeds will blow
Who commands the heavens
Provide us what we need
Who measures hope
Planted with the seed
Fortunes lay in ruin
Only bones can tell
About the drought of 2012

Oak Tree On the Hill
04:02
|
|||
Number Thirty Two, August 9th, 2012
Oak Tree On the Hill
There is an oak tree over the meadow
With a crown so green and wide
And on a hot summer day
There's cool in the shade
That oak tree will provide
As I walk up the hill past the meadow
In the swelter of the day
Lord, I see your love for me
That shelters me this way
When the sun is angry from morning till night
And the air is heavy and still
I know mercy waits for me
Under that oak tree on the hill
Now I know the rains are coming
And the fields will green again
But the driest times
Are when we find
The shelter of our friend
A friend that never fails you
And just like that old oak tree
There's shade on high from the fiery sky
Beneath this canopy
When the season's turning
The branches shed their leaves
And all my days are counted
Then my friend, my soul receives
You may hear the whisper
From the branches on the hill
It's the music of amazing love
And I find my shelter still

Number Thirty Three, August 16th, 2012
Clyde the Bear
We were sittin' in bible study
We had said a prayer
When all of a sudden there was a hungry bear
He was lookin' all around
And he made a scary sound (Grrrrrr)
Look out it's a bear
With all his fuzzy hair
He's pooping everywhere
Eatin' trash without a care
Everyone's running, look out he's comin', it's a bear
We were having a morning snack
A big rice crispy bar
When somebody said there's a bear over by the car
He was lookin' all around
And he made a scary sound (Grrrrrrr)
Look out it's a bear
With all his fuzzy hair
He's pooping everywhere
Eatin' trash without a care
Everyone's running, look out he's comin', it's a bear
He was sniffin' on the porch of Aspen
He climbed on the golf cart
Ben was sleepin' in front of BC
Out in the dark
Colin made a loud noise, Mark said AHHHHH
While everyone was sleepin'
He was creepin' everywhere
Look out it's a bear
With all his fuzzy hair
He's pooping everywhere
Eatin' trash without a care
Everyone's running, look out he's comin', we caught Clyde the bear

Swept away by the rush
Not a friendly face in sight
May angels lift you up
May angels lift you up so high
When you're alone where your goin'
And the storm winds blown'
And you have no strength to try
May angels lift you up
May angels lift you up so high
Fear so deep
You feel it in your heart
Rise to see
Shining in the dark
Love is shining in the dark
When you're weary and worn
From the road that you're on
And it's left you wondering why
May angels lift you up
May angels lift you up so high
Fear so deep
You feel it in your heart
Rise to see
Shining in the dark
Love is shining in the dark
At the close of the day
In the quiet you pray
And the moon lights up the sky
May angels lift you up
May angels lift you up so high

Number Thirty Seven, September13th, 2012
Sadie
She's six years of fun
Six years of play
A little bit lazy
But we like her that way
Sometimes she knocks me down
When I need her, she's always around
She sleeps in my bed
When the nights are cool
The sound of her snoring
The puddles of drool
That's all right, you see
Even her germs are friends to me
Sadie, you're my inspiration
Love me, more than I imagine
Love you never disguise
Always there in your big brown eyes
Sadie…
She misses us
When we go away
Looking for someone
Else to play
Her red collar's always in style
Her sharp little teeth you can see in her smile
So jump into bed
Say goodnight
Find a good spot
As I turn out the light
You lick my face in the dark
Sadie, I love you with all my heart

Dirty Old Guitar

Number Forty One, October 11th, 2012
Dirty Old Guitar (lyrics by Dylan Lammers)
Worn varnish, chips and scratches
Water spots and an old
Band aid stuck on the side
Of that dirty old guitar
Leather shoes, curly brown hair
Scratchy voice, soft face
Calloused fingers strumming
On that dirty old guitar
Comfortable tunes and penetrating lyrics
Resonating in my heart
Just as the sound resonates inside
that dirty old guitar
Worn skin, scars and bruises
Wisdom lines stretch across his face
While memories are relived
On that dirty old guitar

The Sound Of the Wind

Number Forty Two, October 18th, 2012
The Sound Of the Wind
There's a post covered with flowers on the roadside
Marking the place where someone has died
And the leaves blow around
And the story whispers in the sound
Of the wind
There are two names carved inside a heart
In the bus stop bench in front of the mini mart
And the leaves blow around
And the story whispers in the sound of the wind
There's a broken down windmill out in the trees
And a farmhouse in ruins and the ghost of memories
And the leaves blow around
And the story whispers in the sound
Of the wind
We live in a world of heartaches and glories
Safe and high In our observatories
Listen
To the world spin
Around our untold stories
Then shake us from our silent perch
And shed the lie so well rehearsed
As the leaves blow around
And we rise to the sound
Of the wind

Autumn Comes Around

Number Forty Three, October 25th, 2012
Autumn Comes Around
Dead as the leaves
The sleeping trees
Now autumn come around
The deer come in
And the squirrels are thieves
When autumn comes around
Ripping like an Alberta clipper
Tearing through the branches
Wind is crying, hear it calling
Someday
Your turn will come
You'll take your chances
Filled my cup
With the whole wide world
Now autumn comes around
Now the lines
On my map are blurred
As autumn comes around
So the moon is high
But the pull is gone
When autumn comes around
I guess the season's come
For just keeping on
When autumn comes around

Ramsey
Pink sky
Early morning
My thoughts come 'round to you
Makes me think I
Can look inside and
Know just what you're thinking too
And your light goes on
We I need it to
And I need it to
All the time
So breathe, Ramsey, breathe
Into my heart you always will
Breathe, Ramsey, breathe
Into this world, your love is breathing still
Now it's Thanksgiving
Woodsmoke and harvest
And a garden I will never till
God willing
You'll be my planting
You'll be my peace, be my fill
You're the sun and rain when I need them most
And I need them both
All the time
To build up
Where I never could
To seek out
What I never would
To carry you
Everywhere I should
I feel you carry me

Alta Sing
Alta sing
Don't change a thing - I'll follow you
Sing for love
Like a lover does and I will too
Sadie laugh
Your autograph on me remains
So beautifully
You're teaching me how we all change
Beulah's eyes
Reflect the skies of Caroline
She'll take you home
To morning glories in her mind
I have these
Reminding me what I'll become
So let it be
This family tree I'm hanging from
But you and me
We don't even know ourselves
We hide
The best in us to anyone else
We can't admit
How alone we feel
It's not us
It's just what we steal
Alta sing
Don't change a thing - I'll sing with you
Sadie laugh
Bring me back, get me through
There's carolina skies
In the blue of Beulah Storie's eyes

Carol Lita
Lita
Carol Lita you find
All things come back in time
Hear the night wind
Sing songs to your soul
Sweetest old songs you know
And on Sundays
Just a little girl, you'd be found
High in the orchards over town
Singing
Singing with the church bells below
Singing every song you know
And what becomes of these vibrations
These clear constellations
In a universe that collects every sound
Hanging in the heavens and now they're coming
Back around for
Lita
And all these years can't disguise
How the songs still sing in your sleepy eyes
Hope I go
To these places you know
Sing your songs with the church bells below
So beautiful they ring
So beautiful they shine
So beautiful they hang in the air
Forever they are waiting for you there
For Lita
Carol Lita we find
Love returns in it's time

Christmas In the Boomtown
Christmas has come to the boomtown
The lights set the oil rigs aglow
The tanker trucks drown out the bell's ringing
A manger scene shakes in the snow
Christmas has come to the boomtown
Main street never sleeps anymore
And the money flows in and the money flows out
Making wealthier those who were wealthy before
Christmas has come to the boomtown
The bars and churches burn bright
The Salvation Army's working overtime
And a bell ringer breaks up a fight
On this boomtown Christmas night
It's easy to find a make believe romance
If the season makes lonely the life of a transplant
Then it's home to a trailer or something called a mancamp
An empty place to hide… it's Christmas
Christmas has come to the boomtown
And the stars twinkle bright up above
Just like they do over Texas
And the ones you're thinking of
Yeah, the gold rush has come to the boomtown
Rolls out in the trucks and through the pipes
Hear the voices of the Lutheran choir
All is calm, sing all is bright
On this boomtown Christmas night

James Hersch Minneapolis, Minnesota
I live on this piece of prairie. I'm passionate and dedicated to writing songs in hopes of singing them for people. I don't think I could continue without both ends of that process. Create then hope. It's here I write songs, and here I wait to sing them for others. ... more
